Eagles Make Red Devils Bleed as Wilfred Zaha Brace Condemns Man Utd

Wilfred Zaha scored twice away at Old Trafford to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a debut match to forget as a brave performance by Crystal Palace Football Club upset the bookmakers to get a deserved 3-1 victory over Manchester United Football Club. The Eagles, as Crystal Palace are fondly called, had took the game to the hosts and it was only six minutes on the clock when Andros Townsend put the visitors ahead in the match. Then in the 73rd minute a penalty kick was awarded to Crystal Palace and although the initial kick by Jordan Ayew was saved; the goalkeeper was adjudged to have moved forward before the Ghana international took the penalty. Hence, the Video Assistant Referee system decided that the penalty be retaken. This time, former Manchester United boy, Wilfred Zaha made no mistakes from the spot.

Donny van de Beek was brought on to replace Frenchman Paul Pogba and the Dutchman was already on the score sheet on the 80th minute of the match, pulling a goal back after a goalmouth tussle.

This appeared to have given the Manchester club a lifeline. But Zaha had other ideas.

Seconds after the 73rd minute, a confident encroachment into the United area saw Zaha beat his marker to turn the ball onto his right foot and riffle past hapless David de Gea to put the game beyond the hosts.

This is Manchester United’s first game of the season as their match week 1 game against Wolverhampton Wanderers was postponed due to the latter’s involvement in Europa League qualifiers.

The match exposed the weakness of the backline of the Red Devils, as Eagles’ consistent counterattacks left them disorganized in many instances.
