English champions, Liverpool, have completed the signing of Spanish midfielder, Thiago Alcantara from German champions Bayern Munich on a four year deal.
The champions league player put pen to paper on Friday afternoon after completing his £25 million move to the Merseysiders.
Thiago will wear the number 6 shirt, recently worn by Croatian, Dejan Lovren, who departed for Zenith Saint Petersburg.
Thiago leaves Bayern Munich after seven years at the club, during which he won 17 trophies.
“I think it’s an amazing feeling. I was waiting for this moment for a long time and I am very happy to be here,” he told Liverpool’s official website.
Thiago is 29, and is considered to be in his prime, and much is expected from him, even as he joins a team that has ample midfielders.
During his first interview, the 29 year old said Coutinho and Liverpool legend, Xabi Alonso played a major role in his choosing liverpool.
Thiago said: “Philippe Coutinho and Xabi Alonso helped me a lot [in deciding to join Liverpool].”
