Mr. Garba Shehu, who is President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman, has said that petrol was sold at 600 Naira/litre, during the administration of the People’s Democratic Party.
Shehu said this via a tweet, wherein the presidential aide, posted a 2013 newspaper headline to back up his claim.
This is coming after the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), criticised the Federal Government’s decision to increase the prices of petrol and electricity tariffs.
However, Shehu wrote: “Don’t allow the PDP to deceive you. Amidst acute shortages, they sold petrol at N600 per litre on Easter Sunday in 2013 (See Punch published on that day).”
Recently, the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) increased the ex-depot price of petrol from N138.62 to N151.56 per litre. However, Petroleum marketers have increased it to N148 to between N158 and N162 per litre.
