“Beware of Fraudsters, I Have No Active Facebook Account” ~Mele Kyari

The Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mele Kyari, has warned that the general public should be wary of the myriads of Facebook accounts opened in his name, saying that he has not been active on Facebook since 2015. He said that the many accounts being active on the social media platform Facebook, are not his but work of fraudsters. He advised that the public should disregard any message or correspondence with the Facebook accounts.

“Beware of anyone posing as Mele Kyari on Facebook. A simple google search reveals over 25 Facebook account bearing Mele Kyari. I do not have an active Facebook account since 2015 and communicate with the public only on this verified twitter account. Beware of fraudsters.” He said.

Many people have complained about getting defrauded by people who work in Government institutions, but a closer look at their complaints will reveal that they were misled into having transactions with people deceptively posing as officials of such institutions. There are many social media accounts impersonating Government officials or offices.
