The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, NSIA, has on Tuesday 18th August 2020 commissioned a Diagnostic Centre in Umuahia, Abia State. The Centre is the third of such ultramodern standard opened, after NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre, Lagos (2019); and the NSIA-Kano Diagnostic Centre in Kano (2020). The new Diagnostic Centre was co-commissioned by both the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, and the Ministry of Health.
The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of NSIA, Uche Orji, said, “our vision for healthcare is three-fold, which centres around reducing ‘medical tourism’, developing and investing in centres of excellence, which will provide world-class healthcare services domestically and lastly, providing tools which will ensure that our healthcare professionals are able to deliver at the highest level.
“Within the first year of its operations, the centre is expected to serve as many as 70,000 clients and provide direct employment opportunities to about 47 people, and we are hopeful that our partnership with Federal Medical Centre Umuahia (FMCU) will continue to bear the fruit as we give consideration to collaborating with them on other specialties in line with our healthcare strategy.”
The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority is the parastatal in charge of the Sovereign Wealth Funds, SWF.
