Unbelievable! See the State of a Primary Healthcare Centre in Yammama Community of Katsina State

The independent project tracking and monitoring organisation, Tracka, has released a few embarrassing pictures of the pitiable state of the Primary Healthcare Centre in Yammama Community of Malumfashi Local Government Area of the State of Katsina, the state of origin of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari. The Centre looked abandoned from the outside, and rotten when one gets into the interiors, and has virtually no equipment and staff save for one person.

Tracka, a part of the BudgIT Nigeria, tracks and reports on the status of implementation of public projects and programmes in Nigeria, and the budgetary facts around them.

They posted on their social media platform saying, “Dear @GovernorMasari, This is the terrible state of Primary Health Care in Yammama community, Malumfashi LGA of Katsina State.

“Operated by one staff.

“Needs: Rehabilitation, Equipment and Staff.

“We URGE you to direct the relevant authorities to do the NEEDFUL.” ” “”

The current honourable Commissioner for Health in the Katsina State Government is Mariatu Usman Bala. She was preceded by Engineer Yakubu Nuhu Danja. Contrastingly, she (Mariatu) had back in 2017 posted this video on her social media platform, probably shortly after she became Commissioner for Health. The video was about the dilapidated state of a “Comprehensive Health Centre”. Watch below:

Although the Ministry of Health in the State are doing commendably well in many other aspects like building and rehabilitation of general hospitals and equipping them, the primary health care centres, like in most states of the country, are not given same attention. But these centres are the closest to the masses.
