Some three Fulani herdsmen were on Tuesday, attacked by some unknown youths, while returning from their grazing activities from Goragam Area of Zongon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Sources said that the incident which took place around 2PM, landed the herdsmen in the hospital.
Another source told newsmen that problem started when the herdsmen refused leaving the community, after being told by the youths to do so, a situation that escalated into a serious argument.
Kachia branch Secretary, Muhammed Musa, of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) said it was the same youths that later attacked the herders while on their way back from the community. He added that the victims have been hospitalized at Kachia Hospital.
“One of them identified as Suleiman sustained a gunshot wound while the remaining two equally sustained various degrees of injuries after they were ambushed. They are presently hospitalised at a clinic in Kachia.
“They were ambushed by some youths at Goragam community in Zongon Kataf who asked them to vacate the community with their cows while grazing.
“The victims are from Kurmin Gwaza village in Kachia but went to Goragam area for grazing. They are presently receiving treatment in Kachia town,” he said.
When contacted, the State Police Command Public Relations officer ASP Mohammed Jalige said he will find out the details before commenting.
In recent times, there has been attacks and counter-attacks between Fulani and Atiyap communities in Zangon Kataf and Kaura Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
