The Traditional Rulers Council of Gegu in Koton-Karfe Local Government Area of the State of Kogi, have today 2nd August 2020, conferred on Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of the State, the title of ‘Omeiza Obanyi’. This was done during the Sallah homage visit of the governor and his entourage, to the Nyiwo of Gegu-Beki, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Muhammed Alhassan Abba.
The conferment was announced at the palace of the Nyiwo of Gegu-Beki, who is the traditional head of the Council, in Gegu. The term ‘Omeiza Obanyi’ means a generous person who sacrifices precious resources and energy for the sake of the people.
The Nyiwo said that the Council decided to confer the title of ‘Omeiza Obanyi’ on Bello due to their appreciation of his exceptional contributions to infrastructural development of the State, and his passion for human capital development. The Nyiwo also commended the governor for his practical approach towards the security concerns of the State.
