Man Films 17-Year-Old Female Forklift Mechanic, Solicits Support for Her Education

A middle-aged man residing in the mainland part of Lagos has asked well-meaning Nigerians who have the means,to help support the education of a teenage girl he met at a forklift mechanical workshop in Lagos. The girl, student of Babs Fafunwa Millennium Senior Secondary School Ojodu, said that she is interested in studying Engineering in the university. She is currently in the Senior Secondary School year two (SS2) and she says she is passionate about engineering.

A young lady had in the early hours of today 25th July 2020 posted a tweet thus: “My dad saw this talented girl at work today repairing a forklift at 17 years old, she wants to study engineering and grow her expertise. He asked me to post this video so she could get some sort of assistance or guidance. I don’t have all the information about her but he’ll be really happy if this got some sort of recognition. Nigeria is not in short supply of incredible talents in all facets of life. But this one is quite special as Engineering is often erroneously thought of as a career suited to men. There have been many women in the country who have defied this stereotype and excelled in the field.

The girl, a Senior Secondary School year 2 student of Babs Fafunwa Millennium Senior Secondary School Ojodu, Lagos State

The school, Babs fafunwa Millennium Senior Secondary School was established by the Lagos State Government during the government of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It was commissioned by the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday, 21st November, 2002.

The school was built by the Lagos State Government in line with its objective for promoting quality learning. It is located in the Ojodu area of the State, and has modern structures and facilities.
