The Federal High Court, Enugu State, on Wednesday held the first hearing of a 47-Year-Old man who has been arraigned for defilling his 14-year-Old housemaid.

The suspect Mr. Chuks Orji who lives at No 44 Savage Crescent GRA Enugu, by the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in persons and other related offences Commission, (NAPTIP) on 3 count charges.

The charges were: defiling a minor, harbouring same for the purpose of sexual exploitation and engaging her as a domestic help against the Trafficking in Persons Prohibition Enforcement and Administration Act of 2015.

The presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba, admitted the defendant’s application for bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.

The court further demanded that the defendant, Mr. Orji sign an affidavit that he will not do anything to delay the trial. The matter was then adjourned to 21st August, 2020 for hearing.

Consequently, the victim, Sandra Chiamaka, who had been in NAPTIP’s custody, has been reunited with her family.
