Kogi State to Establish Confluence University of Science and Technology

The Executive arm of the Kogi State Government, has proposed a bill to establish a new university in the State.

This was confirmed by the Kogi State Information and Communication Commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo, at a press conference on Thursday, after the State Executive meeting.

Fanwo stated that the proposed university will be called Confluence University of Science and Technology and that it would be situated in Osara, Adavi Local Government Area of the State.

The Commissioner added that the aim of establishing the University, was to train manpower in those fields that will be capable of manning the many industries found in the State.
“In view of the location of the state and in view of the abundant mineral resource across the state, it is pertinent for Kogi State to have a university that will train and feed the industries in the state especially the giant Ajaokuta steel industry that is about to be resuscitated after many decades of abandonment” he said.

He added that the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, will help in drafting the bill for onward presentation to the Kogi State House of Assembly.

Kogi State currently has three universities, one is privately owned, one is owned by the State Government and the other by the Federal Government.

  1. So good and ideal. In fact this would be a great, exceptional and recommendable effort of our able governor.
    Kudos to the Mr. Governor for such an amiable decision.
    I wish you a more chance to do more of what the people need in the state and even at a higher ground of political realm.
