The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC, formerly called Consumer Protection Commission, CPC), has successfully arraigned the embattled CEO of Med Contour, Adepoju Anuoluwapo at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos. She is being arraigned for a string of failed cosmetic surgeries on several clients, including the one of Mrs Nneka Miriam Barbra Onwuzuligbo, a former beauty pageant who died due to complications from her surgery at Med Contour; and the health damage being suffered by one Omoh Tee (Miss Taiwo Omotola Temilade), a social media influencer. Other charges are failure to comply with the FCCP’s summons and requirements for an investigation, and failure to appear and provide relevant information on an ongoing investigation.

The Prosecution, led by Babatunde Irukera, the Chief Executive Officer CEO of FCCPC told the court that the FCCP had on many occasions summoned the plastic surgeon to no avail, saying that it has received several complaints about the practices and games of Med Contour and its CEO.

The defendant objected to the charge. The objection was deliberated and the court eventually ruled that the objection was meritless, and declared that the hearing of the case will continue to trial on July 9th, 2020.

Dr Anu was arrested on Wednesday, 3rd of July, 2020 after a petition by Vivian Onwuzuluigbo, a family member of the deceased, had alleged that the processes and procedures by Med Contour were unsafe and that her advertisements were false and misleading. Before then, there had been several allegations against the CEO of Med Contour and the company itself.

The Police brought Dr Anu Adepoju into the court premises around 11.33am on Thursday accompanied by policewomen.

Omoh Tee had earlier in the year, posted a video on a social media platform, warning Nigerians to appreciate their God-given beauty and shape, but if they insist on any enhancement or plastic surgery, they must not patronise Med Contour. She said in the video (below) that she is suffering untold pains due to numerous complications from her surgery at the Med Contour. She said that the CEO does not really have a great grasp of the practice of plastic surgery, saying that she has completely become broke due to the medical consultations and treatment that she is seeking for her pains and discomfort, from other medical institutions.

Dr Anuoluwapo however, accused Omo Tee and one Marlene Adejumo Oluwakemi of tarnishing her image and that of her Company. She reported them to the police and got Miss Temilade to sign an undertaking not to mention her company or her name on any media in any negative light.

But the eventual petition by Vivian Onwuzuluigbo led to the arrest of the plastic surgeon.
