The First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom, her son as well as some of her personal aides have tested positive for Coronavirus.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by Mrs. Ortom, the First Lady disclosed that she and her staff as well as her son had during the week undergone a routing test carried out by the NCDC personels at the Benue State government House in Makurdi, and the results returned positive.
She said, “We have from this moment, gone into total isolation as required by the protocols and would immediately begin the management treatment as advised by medical experts.
“While I have taken the responsibility to personally call every one I can recall to have had recent contact with to go for testing, I advice any one who has had close contact with me in the last 2 weeks and the public to go for screening and testing.”
Mrs. Ortom advised Benue people not to panic but to observe preventive measures put in place by the government, saying “been COVID-19 positive is not a death sentence as evident by the many recoveries recorded thus far.”
It was during the same week that the Vice Chancellor of the Benue State University, Prof Msugh Kembe, also tested positive for the virus.
As at Friday, Benue State recorded 97 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 3 deaths as a result of the virus.
