Yarmolenko Counter Beats Chelsea as Arsenal’s Soares Scores Debut Goal

The derby match between West Ham United Football Club and Chelsea Football Club provided a befitting spectacle despite the absence of fans as a Andriy Yarmolenko counterattack goal late into stoppage time drowns a great performance by Brazil international Willian Borgess in a Premier League game on Wednesday, 1st July, 2020. Equally, an unstoppable diagonal shot from Cedric Soares who was only four minutes into his debut for his new club Arsenal Football Club, sealed a four-nil win for the Gunners against struggling Norwich City Football Club at the Emirates Stadium.

The loss to David Moyes’ side may negatively affect Chelsea’s quest to finish third. They had hoped to leapfrog Leicester City Football Club who are in third place, after the Foxes lost their away tie at Everton by two goals to one. Leicester City Football Club remains in third place with 55 points after 32 matches and Chelsea stay a point behind them in fourth. Things could get worse for Chelsea as Manchester United Football Club are hot on their heels, with 52 points after 32 games, same as Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

Willian had given the Frank Lampard side the lead but the hosts responded with Tomas Sucek, and then went ahead through a Antonio goal after a scramble in the box that got Antonio a second earlier hoping for a penalty call for a foul on him.

However, Chelsea deservedly equalised through a delightful free-kick from Willian.

But as the game approached its end after a minute into added time, Antonio turned provider as he laid the ball to Yarmolenko who finished a swift counterattack to inflict the first loss on Chelsea since the restart of the season after the COVID-19 break.

Earlier in the evening of Wednesday Arsenal dominated the match through the heroics of their captain and top scorer, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who recommended two goals to go joint top of the goalscorers chart of the Premier League. He opened score before Granit Xhaka added to the tally via an Aubameyang assist. Aubameyang added his second of the game before substitute Cedric Soares stunned everyone with a vicious shot from twenty yards on his fairly weaker left foot. The intensity of the shot completely took the Norwich City defence unaware. He was only four minutes into his first ever match for Arsenal.

Arsenal are now in the 8th position and are hoping to push for Europe qualification, as they prepare to play away at Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.
