The former Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Victor Giadom, has had his social media account restricted for suspicious activities on the same account. Twitter, a wide trending social media platform, has temporarily restricted the handle @VictorGiadomAPC due to “some unusual activity from the account”.
Honourable Giadom had been embroiled in confrontation with other leaders in the now dissolved National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, most especially against the suspended chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and supporters of both Tinubu, its national leader, and (now late) Abiola Ajimobi, its regional leader; consequent to the suspension of Oshiomhole as he (Giadom) desired to take over chairmanship of the party.
Giadom had called for a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja to resolve the leadership tussles, and has since accepted the decisions adopted at the NEC meeting in good faith, pledging his loyalty to the president and the party’s NEC.
However, the Twitter handle, which appears to be his authentic account (there are several other fake or parody accounts), was a medium he used to communicate many of his arguments and perspectives during the period leading to the dissolution of the erstwhile NWC. He also used it to engage supporters of Tinubu and Oshiomhole online, which included drawing their attentions to court ruling, court orders, or official letters.
The reason for the restriction could be from without, which would mean that hackers with mischievous intentions attempted to take over the account; or he had made plenty of deletions or other actions that appear suspicious or abnormal.
Whichever is the cause for the temporary restriction, cyber attack or self-inflicted, will be reported by Switch Nigeria as events unfold.
