No fewer than 10 Nigerian soldiers were allegedly killed by men of the notorious Islamic sect, Boko Haram, in Damboa community of Borno State on Saturday evening.
Reports say that the soldiers were on a patrol of the area when they were attacked and killed by the terrorists.
According to a source who is a resident of the community, Lieutenant Malgwi and nine of his soldiers were killed during the attack by the terrorists.
The killings have triggered a mass exodus from the area, with residents said to be fleeing the community for fear of another attack by the insurgents.
