The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has resigned his membership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
He is expected to officially announce his defection to the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP).
The embatteled governor is tipped to announce his defect ion on Tuesday evening at wadata plaza headquarters of the PDP, Vanguard reports.
Obeseki and two other party members were on Friday disqualified from contesting the party’s July 22 governorship primary election in Edo State by the APC Screening Committee. However the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) upheld the decision on Saturday.
The APC working committee had however cited alleged discrepancies in the governor’s personal and academic records as reasons for his disqualification.
But the embattled governor said he would not appeal the decision
