Nigerians Now Enjoy 18-24 Hours of Electricity on a Daily Basis- FG

The Federal Government, under president Muhammadu Buhari, has said that Nigeria now enjoys 18-24 hours of electric power daily.

Engr. Sale Mammad, who is the Minister for Power, made this known during his appearance on National Television Authority (NTA) on Tuesday.

He held that his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari, has done very well to improve the power sector, more than his predecessors ever did.

The minister said the federal government had upgraded the 330KVA, the highest voltage in the country. He went on to confirm that 132 substations have been improved and the 40MW Kashimbilla station has been completed.

Furthermore, the Minister said that work at the Zungeru Power Station in Niger State has reached 70% completion.
“We have improved our services. Before this government, they gave light for less than 10 hours a day, but today I can tell you that we give light from 18 to 24 hours in a day,” the Minister said.

According to Mamman, Nigeria had less than 3,000mw of capacity generation before the present administration came into power, as he assured that power supply would further improve after Siemens AG of Germany begins work in the sector.

“But today, we can generate up to 5,500mw capacity, although we cannot transmit all due to some constraints.”
