A policewoman yesterday, during the Black_Lives_Matter protests in Central London, while riding on a horse, accidentally smashed into a traffic light as her horse was cantering, suffering collapsed lung, broken collarbone, and broken ribs. The Metropolitan Police were making use of horses to control the protesters and the horses appeared to be nervous and skittish. The policewoman needed surgical operations and she is recovering consciousness.
According to witnesses, the protests were largely peaceful and controlled until the police arrived, and things began to go out of control after police appeared on horseback, something that had both the protesters and the horses a little nervous. After the accident to the policewoman, some protesters are seen throwing bicycles and other items in the way of the horses and this also made the protests worse.
At least 14 Metropolitan Police officers suffered injuries or bruises during the milieu. At least 20 arrests have been made in connection to the incidents.
The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, said that the protests were subverted and tainted by thugs. He alleged that thugs blended into the crowds and began to aggravate the police and attack them, while defacing a few properties.
Priti Patel, the Home Secretary, said, “Black lives matter but police brutality in the United States is no excuse for the violence against our brave police officers at home.” She assured that justice will be done and those who are involved in the attack on the police, and the monuments, will be prosecuted.
#BlackLivesMatter protests was reawakened by the gruesome murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, USA. It has spread to other cities in the US and the world, over the past one week, despite the the dangers of flouting the social distancing precaution. Much of the anger of the youths and people who stand against racism, is the approach and rhetorics of Donald Trump. The 45th president of the United States of America, has been a thorn in the flesh of liberal thinking people, and has shown no candid desire to deal with racial discrimination and killings.
