The son of Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Adamu Atiku-Abubakar, has said that his father is going to run for president come 2023.
Adamu who is the Commissioner of Works and Energy to the Adamawa State Government, made this known at an event held to celebrate the PDP government’s one year in office.
He said, “Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with my father contesting for the presidency. In 2023, my father will be aspiring to the number one office in the land because he has been an astute, strategic, master politician for almost four decades.”
He also praised his principal, the governor or Adamawa State, Adamu Finitri, saying the governor has surpassed his campaign promises.
He went on to say that he came late to politics because he heeded his father’s advice to familiarize himself with things in the private sector, in order to garner experience, that would be much needed in public service.
He also voiced out his willingness to run for senator should his people want him.
“I am basically here to serve my people; if I am called by the people back home to run for the Senate, I don’t see anything wrong with that.”
