Police Kills a Suspected Kidnapper. Arrest Another in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has announced the death of a suspected Kidnapper and the arrest of another, during a shootout with the criminals in Abakpa Nike, in Enugu East Local Government of the State.

The Command also disclosed that 3 kidnapped victims were also rescue in the operation.

In a statement signed by the State Command’s spokesperson ASP Daniel Ndukwe, it said the Command achieved this feat in 2 separate operations conducted on the 16th and 26th of May respectively.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that 2 of the victims, a father and daughter were abducted on the 15/05/2020 at a construction site in Abakpa Nike.

The 3rd victim was said to have been kidnapped on the 25/05/2020 in exchanged for his son and another person, who had been abducted by the gang earlier.

“following a tactical and intelligence operation carried out by Operatives of the Command’s anti-kidnapping Unit at the said forest, the victim was successfully rescued unhurt, after an intense gun battle with the Kidnappers, which led to the death of one. The second suspect was reportedly arrested with severe bullet injuries and in a critical condition.” The statement read.

The spokesperson said one AK 47, twenty rounds of ammunition, 4 handsets and N700 cash were recovered from the suspects.

Meanwhile, a relative to our of the kidnapped victims, Mr. Ndubuisi Attah, who claimed to be aware of the story, has alleged that the kidnappers were Fulani herdmens, who had demanded a ransome of N200,000 and got arrested, as they attempted to pick up the money.
