An Ondo High Court has sentenced a Pastor to death by hanging, for causing the death of one Ayo Olaniyi in Okeigbo area of the state about 4 years ago.
Delivering the verdict, Justice Ademola Bola held that Pastor Kolawole Samson was guilty of inflicting the machete cut on the head of the deceased, that led to his death at the hospital.
Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the state was represented by two state counsels Mr. Olusegun Akeredolu and Mrs. Omotola Ologun, who submitted to the court that the accused had on the 3rd of March 2016, inflicted a fatal injury on the deceased head with a machete.
It was revealed that the pastor had accosted the deceased at his pond, where he had gone to hunt frogs without permission.
According to the counsels, the offence was contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Laws of Ondo State (2006).
Despite contending that he was not guilty, the trial Judge sentenced the accused to death by hanging.
