The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, embarked on a three-day virtual celebration of Children’s Day themed PROMOTING GIRL CHILD EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, which hosted the wives of the president and vice president, Mrs Aisha Buhari and Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo respectively, culminating in today’s Children’s Day celebration at the office of the Ministry, where His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari was represented by the Minister for FCT, Honourable Muhammed Musa Bello.
The Minister for Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline K. Tallen, said that we should take responsibility in educating our children without biases. We should engage every human mind and nurture it for the development of our nation. She urged all children to speak out if they are facing any form of violence or they see any forms of violence being perpetrated against fellow children either in the home, in the school, or in their immediate communities.
She added that children are gift from God, and there is a great benefit for an investment on a girl child education as every girl child is a potential mother with a responsibility of educating her children or ward.
She said her hope is to “change the narrative and improve the lives of women and children in Nigeria.”
