Manager Of Demolished Hotel In Rivers State Among 27 New Comfirmed COVID-19 Cases

27 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been recorded in Rivers State.

Among the new confirmed cases, is the Manager of the recently demolished Prodest Hotel in the Eleme Area of the state, Gogorobari Needam.

A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Paulinus Nsirim, said the latest development has “validated the State Government’s proactive approach towards the fight against COVID-19.”

Prodest Hotel was one of the two hotels the state demolished two weeks ago because according to the government, the owners violated Executive Order 7 which banned the operation of hotels.

“The COVID-19 Taskforce members from the Local Government who went to enforce the Executive Order were brutalized and dehumanised leading to the death of one of them,” the statement said.

Recall that a few days ago, Gogorobari was convicted and fined N50, 000 by a Magistrates’ court in Port Harcourt, the state capital, for contravening the State Executive Order on COVID-19.
