Trump Declares Places of Worship Offer ‘Essential’ Services, Orders Their Reopening

The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has issued an order that places of worship, including churches, synagogues and mosques, be reopened.

The US has suffered the scourge of the Coronavirus pandemic that has hit the world, more than many nations, including China, where it all started from. At the moment, the counis looking at ways to reopen social and economic activities in the country, thereby relaxing the lockdown.

There has been protests for churches to be reopened in the country.

Trump made this known on Friday during his usual press conference.

“Today I am identifying houses of worship – churches, synagogues and mosques – as essential places that provide essential services.”

In the United States, all the 50 states have the power to regulate what constitutes essential services, and not the Federal Government.

“The governors need to do the right thing and allow these very important essential places of faith to open right now, for this weekend,” he said.

Trump is going against his opponents, the Democrats to do what he does is right.

Trump has said that he has the power override state laws, even though many experts believe he lacks the jurisdiction to do so and that the decision to reopen places of worship is ill timed.

“If they don’t do it, I will override the governors. In America, we need more prayer, not less.”

“Some governors have deemed liquor stores and abortion clinics as essential but have left out churches and other houses of worship. It’s not right,” Trump said.

Trump is a Roman catholic.
