President Muhammadu Buhari has today, approved the renewal of the tenure of Mr. Benjamin Akabueze as Director – General (DG), Budget Office of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Mr. Akabueze, was on February 15th, 2016, appointed as a Special Adviser Planning (SAP) to the President and later re-deployed and appointed as DG Budget, on June 10th, 2016 by Mr President, to handle the nagging issues in the Budget office at that time. The office has since this appointment, witnessed great strides despite the tough situations witnessed due to the uncooperative nature of the 8th National Assembly (N’Ass), especially in the face of the confrontation between the Presidency and the Bukola Saraki led N’Ass between 2017 and 2019. The appointment of 2016 will expire this year, by June. According to Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, the
Special Adviser, Media & Communications to the Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget & National Planning, the Budget Office is currently undergoing several reforms under the leadership of Akabueze towards improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Budget office of the Federation.
Akabueze’s performance has been commendable and due to this the President has approved the renewal of his tenure for another four-year term to ensure stability in the office for a sustainable improvement of the Budget matters of his government.
