Zamfara: Troops Decimate 27 Armed Bandits in ‘Operation Hadarin Daji’

Troops of the Operation Hadarin Daji, on Thursday, using attack air crafts, have killed at least 27 bandits along the Nahuta-Doumborou corridor of the Zamfara and Sokoto State border, after a credible intelligence report confirming that a notorious armed bandits leader was holing up in huts with his followers. Defence Headquarters reports that the joint troops made use of the Air Force Attack Helicopter and Ground Attack Air Craft to launch the attack on the hillside hideouts of the criminals.

In a release yesterday, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) said that from a vantage point atop the location, the troops sighted several of the armed bandits along with a great number of rustled cattle. The attack aircrafts took turns in engaging the area, neutralizing some of the bandits even as some escaped with injuries. Human Intelligence (HUMINT) sources later confirmed that at least 27 bandits were killed during the attack.

The Operation Hadarin Daji was previously referred to as Operation Sharan Daji but was renamed on 10th May, 2019 and given extra support in arms and ammunition as well as personnel. It was set up in response to the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari to confront the insecurity in the North West part of the country.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria wishes to thank all Nigerians for their support and encourages the general public to continue providing useful information that would facilitate its operations to restore peace and security to all affected parts of the Country.
