Leader of Ogboni Fraternity Killed in Ondo State

Two men who allegedly killed the leader of the Ogboni Fraternity, Chief Stephen Akinkunmi in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, have been nabbed by men of the Ondo State Police Division.

Akinkunmi was killed on Thursday, in the premises of the St. Stephen Hotel, Ore, after he resisted the request of the hoodlums to enter the vehicle.

According to Mr. Joshua Akindele, brother to the deceased, the miscreants lodged in the hotel for three days before carrying out their assassination.

Reports said that, the two men made away with N2 million and some other valuables after driving the body of Chief Akinkunmi from the hotel to an unknown location.

The wife of the deceased, Toyin, appealed to the state government and security agents to protect the family as she had been receiving threat messages from unknown persons.

“Some people have been calling us on the telephone and threatening our lives; we want the security agencies to help arrest the perpetrators; we also want justice,” she stated.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the arrest of two suspects, said the command had begun investigation into the incident.

“We are after the perpetrators and we will ensure that they are brought to justice,’ Ikoro stated.
