A fake Tax Operator in Benue State, Paul Tersoo Iorliam who specialises in collecting outrageous amounts of money and issuing fake government receipts to unsuspecting motorists, has been apprehended by the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) tax team.
A statement issued on Friday by BIRS, said Iorliam was arrested by the tax team at an illegal checkpoint mounted at Community Secondary School Ikyuen, Ipav, Gboko Local Government.
According to the statement, the suspect, who was found to be in possession of three different receipts, have been handed over to the police for prosecution.
The statement listed the receipts found on him to include: Federal Mobile Sanitation Agency, Benue State Chapter, National Freight Hauliers Association, Federal Ministry of Transport and Benue State Government of Nigeria, Gboko L G A Revenue Receipt.
“The fight against miscreants who continue to defraud the public at illegal road blocks, collecting outrageous amounts of money and issuing fake government receipts is still on,” the statement reads briefly.
“The Executive Chairman BIRS, Andrew Ayabam remains committed to ensuring that Benue State roads are cleared of all revenue illegalities as the service continue to drive for improved revenue generation,” the statement concluded.
