A total of 39 COVID-19 patients in Gombe State have been discharged after their test results came back negative, the Gombe State Task Force on COVID-19 said on Tuesday.
According to the statement issued by the chairman of the Task Force, Idris Mohammed, 5 persons were discharged on Monday while 34 were sent home on Tuesday, bringing the total number of discharged patients to 59 in the State.
He added that the state has 58 active cases, with only one recorded death from the coronavirus pandemic, out of the 118 confirmed cases from 1, 168 samples tested at the NCDC laboratory in Abuja.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ahmed Gana has also said that a new protocol initiated by the NCDC, now allows patients to be sent home if their test results come back negative, even if it is just once they were tested.
“According to the new NCDC guidelines, a patient can be discharged if his result sample return negative once, unlike before when it had to be tested negative twice,” he said.
