COVID-19: Oyo Govt Increases Bed Space Capacity

The Oyo State government says it is working to increase the capacity of the isolation centres by adding a 100-bed isolation centre in Saki, 40-bed isolation centre in Ogbomoso, 40-bed isolation centre in Igboora, and another 24-bed isolation centre in Aawe near Oyo Town.

Governor Seyi Makinde, disclosed this on Monday, while giving an update on the state COVID-19 Task Force.

Makinde said The COVID-19 confirmation test for one suspected case came back positive.

According to him, the case is from Ibadan South West Local Government Area. adding that the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as at Monday evening, is sixty-five.

The governor also revealed that The  Coalition Against COVID -19 “@cacovidng donated N250 Million to Oyo State – N220 Million for equipment and N30 Million for renovation of our isolation centres. The @NCDCgov is also supporting our state with N100 Million. We are grateful to CACOVID and NCDC for the support.”

We are working to increase the capacity if our isolation centres by adding a 100-bed isolation centre in Saki, 40-bed isolation centre in Ogbomoso, 40-bed isolation centre in Igboora, and another 24-bed isolation centre in Aawe near Oyo Town.

Furthermore, he noted that the state government is also renovating the 10-bed isolation centre at Agbami Chest Centre, Jericho.

The governor, then called on residents of the state to “Please call the Emergency Operations Centre on 08095394000 | 08095863000 | 08078288999 | 08078288800, if you find travellers from other states arriving in your community.”
