Abuja Having Shortage of Test Kits, Lagos Having Shortage of Reagents

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), have said that they were have run short of testing kits, while the Lagos State Government disclosed on Tuesday that it had run out of reagents.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 told the House of Representatives on Tuesday that, Kano had become the epicenter of COVID-19 in the North, and coming second only to Lagos in the country.

The PTF team, led by Boss Mustapha, who is the Chairman of the Force and also the SGF, also comprised of Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Health Minister, Dr. Osagie Ehanire; and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

The team said that Kano State lacked the manpower and surveillance to combat the spread and ensure adequate treatment of the disease.

As of March, Kano had no single case of Coronavirus, but ever since the beginning of April, the State has witnessed a drastic increase in the number of cases, a total of 365 as of yesterday night.
Mustapha expressed concern over the spread of the disease in Kano State, “Kano is fast emerging as the epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic in the North, which necessitated Mr President’s specific directives in his broadcast of Monday, 27th April, 2020,” he said.
