The Minister of Interior, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola said on Thursday that there are no cases of COVID-19 in any of the 244 correctional facilities across the country.
Rauf said this at Thursday’s briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja, adding that by way of president Muhammadu Buhari’s recent pardon, many of the nation’s prisons have been decongested.
According to him, the only reason the Correctional facilities have not recorded any case so far is because the officers in charge have been doing a tremendous work.
He also commended the Governors of Benue, Borno, Taraba and Cross River for ensuring that the country’s borders along that axis are safe from people illegally entering the nation.
“The effort we are making as PTF is to ensure that even after this COVID-19, we will look at how we have changed our attitude and a new social economic and spiritual order will emerge,” Aregbesola said
