The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed has said that the United States President Donald Trump spoke to his Nigerian counterpart, President Muhammadu Buhari via a telephone call on Tuesday, when he promised Nigeria ventilators.
Lai Mohammed said this on television while addressing the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja today.
The Minister said this was another nice gesture by the United States in helping fight the COVID-19, after Trump through the USAID donated $21.4 million 5 days ago for the same purpose.
He said, “President Muhammadu Buhari today had a phone conversation with President Donald Trump at the request of the American President. The conversation centred on Nigeria’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. President Buhari used the opportunity to brief the American President on the steps that Nigeria was taking to contain the spread of the disease.
“On his part, President Trump assured that the United States stands in solidarity with Nigeria in this difficult time and promised to send ventilators to support the country in its fight against the pandemic.”
