18 Prostitutes Arrested in Ondo for Flouting Lockdown Order

No fewer than 18 prostitutes have been arrested by men of the Ondo State Task Force on COVID-19 for flouting the States lockdown directive.

A dusk till dawn curfew has been in place to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the State.

Sources said that the 18 commercial sex workers were caught in a brothel at the Shasha area of Akure around 10.30pm on Sunday, while the task force was monitoring compliance with the government order.

The Task Force said that the suspects have been remanded in isolation pending when their COVID-19 test results are ready.

Responding on the incident, the Special Adviser to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Special Duties and Strategies, Dr. Doyin Odebowale also confirmed that the prostitutes’ sample had been taken to ascertain their COVID-19 status.
