FG Adds Two More Laboratories For Coronavirus Testing In Nigeria

Two more new laboratories have been added to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) network of Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing labs at the Usman Danfiodio University, Sokoto and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

By this addition, it has has brought the total number of labouratory to 15.

Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora, disclosed this on Monday during the presidential taskforce briefing on COVID-19.

Mamora said: “Two (2) new labs have been added to @NCDCgov network of COVID-19 labs in Usman Danfodio University Sokoto and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria bringing the total number of labs to 15.

He also revealed that all the states in the country have received medical consumables for preparedness against the disease: “All states have been supplied with medical consumables to support preparedness and COVID-19 response activities.”

On the issue of hazard allowance to health workers, Mamora said governors of the 36 states have agreed to pay additional 50 percent of salary to all health workers in federal government teaching hospitals and federal medical centres.

“A review of hazard allowance were made and @NigeriaGov has agreed to pay an additional 50% of salary to all Health Workers in all Federal Government Teaching Hospitals and Federal Medical Centers in the Special #COVID19 Hazard and Inducement Allowance.”
