Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State has assured people of the state that both the state and federal governments are determined and working assiduously to bring an end to the carnage being perpetrated by armed bandits in the state.
Bello, who stated this on Wednesday , while condemning the renewed armed banditry attack in Rafi Local Government Area of the state, also commiserated with the victims of the attacks.
The attack led to the death of seven vigilantes and left many injured.
The governor described the attack as “sad and unfortunate”, warning that the government would not take it lightly with unscrupulous elements puncturing the peace and security of the state.
A statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Muawiyyah Yusuf Muye, noted that Bello added that strategic measures were being taken to curb the activities of the bandits and urged members of the communities to assist security agencies with valuable information about miscreants and their whereabouts.
The statement said, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of Niger State citizens, saying that he will not be derailed by the indiscriminate violence against innocent people orchestrated by bandits.
