Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has pardoned 171 prisoners serving various jail terms in 16 Correctional Institutions across the state. This was disclosed in a statement signed by Mr Humwashi Wonosikou , Press Secretary to the Governor on Friday.
He said, the inmates were among the 2600 inmates pardoned by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Wonosikou further said that, the governor’s decision is in consonance with the federal government effort to decongest some of the overcrowded Correctional Centres, as a result of possible spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Recall that Governor Fintiri had earlier granted prerogative mercy to 46 others imates in the state.
