Kano state has recorded the first case of coronavirus, the state commissioner of health Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said on Saturday.

Tsanyawa, who confirmed the news via text message, said the Government will soon address journalists on the development.

Kano is one of the biggest states in Nigeria with 44 local government areas and has been under partial lock down for a some weeks now.

The state government had early this month announced that, it has put in place modalities in place that will help the state tackle any outbreak of the virus.
