Kano Gets COVID-19 Testing Centre

Kano State has gotten a Coronavirus testing centre, courtesy of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The State Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna, who confirmed this said, “from now on, all samples of suspected cases of COVID-19 will not be taken to Abuja for testing but treated in Kano.”

Gawuna, disclosed this while on an inspection visit to the COVID-19 test centre set up by the NCDC at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. The Deputy Governor is also the Chairman of the State Task Force Committee on COVID-19,

“We are on a fact finding mission; from what we have seen in the laboratory, installation of equipment is complete and test running has been made,” he explained.

On his part, Abdulmajid Musa, a Laboratory Scientist with the NCDC, said the approved platform have been successfully installed by the NCDC and was capable of testing any COVID-19 sample.

Musa also said personnel from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and the Kano State Government are already being trained on how to operate the equipment.
