It’s no longer news that the Nigeria government are planning to bring in Chinese medical practitioners for assistance on COVID-19. A lot of concerns have been raised by the public, as the deadly virus originated from China.
Due to the concerns of the public, The Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila said that the nurses and doctors coming in to assist on the pandemic will be quarantined for 14 days. He said the decision was made based on the meeting he had with the two ministers of Health on Monday.
Even though The Speaker said that the medical practitioners would not have any physical contact with any patient, it is not however known if they would have contact with the local medical practitioners, who have being caring for the victims of COVID-19 so far.
The ongoing lock down was initially meant to last for two weeks, which would have been over by 13th of April. However, there are already rumours that the lockdown would be extended, owing to the growing number of new infections and treatment challenges being experienced.
