CARLOS TEVEZ Urges Footballers to Take Pay Cuts to Help Fight COVID-19

Former Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus striker, Carlos Tevez has aired out his views on the contribution of professional footballers in the fight against COVID-19.

Speaking to America TV, the striker made it clear that every footballer should be able to risk his wage in trying to subdue the pandemic. According to Tevez, “any footballer can live six months or a year without getting paid”, he said. “We don’t have the despair that others live with day after day. Unlike those that have to leave their homes at 6am and return at 7 in the afternoon, in order to feed their families the next day… We have to be there, to help out”.

Most footballers have already donated in order to fund researches on the virus; some of which are Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Messi, Lewandowski amongst many others.

Talking of wage cut for players by their teams, clubs such as Juventus, Athletico Madrid, Ajax, Bournemouth etc., have all made different wage cuts so as to help in curbing the disease.

Carlos Tevez now plays for Argentine side, Boca Juniors.
