Buhari Tasks Army, Police to Flush Out Bandits

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the Nigerian Army to join forces with the Police and flush out bandits from forests around the country, particularly in the areas that witnessed recent attacks.

This was contained in a press Statement issued on Friday, by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu.

The directive from the president is coming in response to the recent attacks in Sokoto and Bassa local government area of Plateau States, where about 32 persons were killed in the two separate attacks.

According to the statement indicated further that, already the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai has gotten in touch with the General Officers Commanding the army formations in the affected states, directing them to reinforce the police efforts to track the bandits and bring them to justice.

In the meantime, the President has expressed his sympathises with the governments and people of the two states, and has assured them of his administration’s readiness to end killings in the country.
