Just In: Benue Records First Case of Coronavirus

The Benue State government has announced the first case of Cotonavirus in the state.

The confirmation was made on Saturday, by Governor Samuel Ortom, while addressing news men.

He identified the victim as Suzan Okpe, who returned from the UK a few days ago.

He said the reason for announcing the name is for people who have come in contact with the said victim to avail themselves for necessary actions .

The Governor disclosed that two blood samples of suspected cases were taken to Abuja but the NCDC confirmed the other one negetive and one positive .

She will be quarantined and treated at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, the facility set aside for patients in the state, while tracking of close contacts is ongoing.

Meanwhile, Governor Ortom has placed a travel ban on all Benue indigenes travelling in and out of the state, following the reported case in the state.
