The first death as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, was on Monday recorded in Nigeria.
This was confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
Information gotten on the verified Twitter handle of the Centre , @NCDCgov, on Monday explained that, “The first #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the United Kingdom.”
The first casualty, has been identified as Suleiman Achimugu. He is a former managing director of the Pipeline and Product Marketing Company (PPMC).
“He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma and diabetes and was undergoing chemotherapy.”
Meanwhile, five new cases were confirmed in the country on Monday morning. This has put the total number of confirmed cases in the country at 36, out of which 2 persons have successfully recovered and have been discharged.
