As part of measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria, the National Universities Commission (NUC), on Friday directed the management of Universities in the country to shut down for a period of one month, to prevent further spread of coronavirus.
The deputy Executive Secretary of the Commission, Suleiman Yusuf, have the order through a circular.
According to him, the closure which will last for a period of one month from Monday, March 23, 2020, is part of the measures to stop the spread of the virus in the country.
“As part of the measures to contain and prevent the spread of the coronavirus (covid-19) throughout the country, approval has been granted for the closure of all schools,” he stated.
So far, 12 cases of the virus have confirmed in Nigeria and this has compelled the Nigerian Government on March to order for the closure of all the 104 Unity Schools in the country from Thursday, March 26, 2020, to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
