Just In: Kaduna Shuts Down Islamic and Christian Gatherings of Over 50 People.

The Kaduna State Government has ordered the closure of church and mosque gatherings of more than 50 people, as part of measures to curtail the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

Both primary, secondary and tertiary schools have also been asked to shut down.

According to Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Mr. Muyiwa Adekeye, the governorment took a cue to stop Juma’at service from the decision of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the cradle of Islam not to hold such prayers in the two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madina.

He also advised pastors and church leaders to take a cue from core Christian nations like Italy, Germany and France and do same.

He concluded, “Public health expert advice is that large gatherings of more than 10 persons are not advisable at this point, and any assembly of more than 50 persons are therefore prohibited in Kaduna State until further notice.”
