A former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has commended the Federal Government for heeding to his call to reduce the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), in order to help cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The 2019 PDP presidential candidate made this known through a statement he released on his social media handle, on Wednesday.
His commendation is coming after the Federal Government of Nigeria, had on Wednesday directed the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, to reduce the pump price for petrol in the country.
While commending move, Atiku also charged the government and other relevant stakeholders to play their part in rescuing the country from the economic downturn of the oil crash, as result of the lock down by the coronavirus outbreak.
“The Coronavirus Outbreak places a huge economic strain on Nigerians, which is why we counselled the Federal Government to reduce the pump price of PMS. I commend the FG for taking this step and I urge that all hands be on deck to rescue Nigeria from the economic downturn of the oil crash,” he stated.
It could be recalled that the former Vice President had on Wednesday advised the Federal government of Nigeria to take decisive Economic actions to protect the citizens of the country from the ravages of the coronavirus, by reducing the pump price of PMS to reflect the current prevailing market costs as well as temporary suspension of stamp duty on all types of accounts, among other issues.
