The United States of America Deputy Chief of Mission Affairs to Nigeria Kathleen Fitbibbon has described the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PRC) Laboratory in Federal medical Centre, Makurdi as world class laboratory.
She said the laboratory at the moment is the best performing in Nigeria and indeed its ahead of many laboratories in USA and Europe.
PRC is a method widely used by molecular biology.
Kathleen Fitbibbon made the commendation recently when she led other top stakeholders in the health sector on an on-the-spot assessment visit of facilities in the hospital.
She also explained that the visit was equally to see how they could partner with FMC MKD on how best they could tackle HIV/AIDS epidemic in the country.
She further stressed that, USA is actually satisfied and proud with FMC MKD, on health care and service delivery.
Fitbibbon was accompanied on the visit by the Director General, National Agency For the Control of Aids(NACA), Dr. Gambo Aliyu, US AIDS Country Director, Dr. Erasmus Moran,
CDC Country Director, Dr. Mahesh Swaminahan and the CEO, APIN, Public Health Initiative, Dr. Prosper Okonwo.
The American Government Representative Congratulated Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi under the leadership of Dr. Peteru Inunduh on this feat and requested its to maintain the tempo.
Earlier, the Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre Makurdi. Dr. Peteru M. Inunduh in his welcomed address on behalf of the Board and management of the hospital expressed happiness and appreciation to the American Government Representative to Nigeria and other top functionaries for the visit.
He further re-assured them that, FMC MKD under his watch will continue to partner with Advanced countries and other agencies that are willing to add sufficient values in the health industry.
