The Emir of Kano, HRH Sanusi Lamido II has been dethroned by the State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Switch Nigeria announced earlier today that the Kano State House of Assembly was in a raucous state due to contrasting views on a petition to remove the Emir, and the Speakers poor handling of the petition.
But the State Executive, Governor Ganduje has proceeded to announce through the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, that the traditional rulers appointment has been terminated with immediate effect.
In the statement, he cited the Emirs blatant disregard for the Governor and other cultural values as reason.
He urged the people of Kano to be calm and that a new Emir would be announced soon.
